Q. If there’s no restriction on ads of cryptocurrency and fantasy leagues, should we still have restrictions on alcohol and cigarette companies advertising?

 

A. To my mind, the comparison is inappropriate. A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that is secured by cryptography. Many cryptocurrencies are decentralised networks based on blockchain technology. While it is yet to be a legal tender and crypto buyers can get intoxicated by its potential upside, but it might not  cause any health hazard, apart from one’s financial health, if at all. Similarly, fantasy leagues are debated as falling in the grey area of a game of skill and gambling. Alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking, however, are alleged to be a health hazard. There is no conclusive evidence (100%) that it happens in all cases. Hence, regulatory protocols have been devised to mitigate any negative side…
