Q. A columnist recently remarked that Christmas 2021 advertising is a lot of “over-indulgent, faux-sentimental, hyper-emotional brand bullshit”. To an extent that’s we see around festive ads in India too. Your view?

 

A. I don’t have such wisdom. I feel celebration of life with any excuse is most welcome. Advertisements celebrate occasions and any hyperbolic blitz is a normal creative liberty that an organisation takes. Consumers are generally intelligent and they don’t usually fall prey to all the adjectives of advertising.
