Q. Is there a word of advice to the parents amongst our readers on how to ensure that their children don’t get illegal habits like consumption of substances?

A. That values, including undesirable habits, have to be  imbibed from an early age,  can’t be over-emphasised. I am not a specialist in child psychology. However, from common sense, I may suggest that children love care and encouragement from family members. So that’s critical. Children should also be encouraged to develop extracurricular activities in accordance with their natural inclinations. Parents should spend time with the children so that they can confide in them as they do with their close friends.
