Bhaskar DasWe think we have asked a similar question in the past, but that was in the early part of the first lockdown. Given the extension of the new abnormal, we thought it would be good ta ask Dr Bhaskar Das for his views for the October 20 edition of Das ka Dum. Here’s his response…

Q. As an industry captain who is also an academic, what are the training programmes one should undertake to get indispensable.

A. The first question to be asked what training is required and for what purpose. Also, no training programme purports to guarantee “indispensability”. It is supposed to ensure sustained employability. So far as selection of training programmes is concerned, it has to start with an understanding of the emerging skillsets, required to be attractive to the employers. In this exercise, a future backwards analysis of relevant intra- and inter-sectoral landscape realities is needed. With accelerated pace of technological change and a shift in consumer behaviour, unlearning and up-skilling has to be a continuous process. In other words, one has to be in a permanently beta state. Hence, it’s not possible to write a generalised prescription on your question.
