Q. An e-com firm acquired popular digital content offering Scoop Whoop. Could there be a dilution of content values or is that in digital legacy media prudishness doesn’t work?

 

A. It is an interesting development. It may not be indicative of either dilution of content quality or non-application of media prudishness.  It is apparent that the e-commerce firm is currently building and buying male grooming brands so that they can create male personal care products and would leverage its ‘content-to-commerce’ capabilities synergistically. This should lead to the next level of growth for the firm. It’s too early to predict the outcome but I find it to be a complementary step to the founders’ current business model.
