Q. Amul has been coming up with interesting and innovative flavours for its ice creams… like Haldi (turmeric), for instance. Is there a medicinal flavour that you think Amul should incorporate? Which one and why?

A. I really can’t comment on what constitutes medicine for which disease. Your question suffers from confirmation bias. Just because Amul has launched a haldi variety, it doesn’t mean there is a logic for launching products with medicinal benefits. What seems to be a marketing strategy (and may be rally effective too as ancient practice rationalises Haldi having immunity-building properties) need not be mixed up with a brand extension strategy. I wish life would have been so simple and then what would doctors do. So I have no recommendation to make to any company on preventive medicinal flavour as I am not expert on the subject.
