Q. Once things get back to normal, would you advise more and more organisations to adopt a Work From Home, whenever necessary?

A. What is normal? How do we know that what was pre-covid was normal? This addiction to normalcy is the root cause of human sufferings and resistance to change. WFH has been in vogue for a lot of self-employed people specially in the gig economy. Legacy companies insist on physical presence as employees misuse the flexibility too. Besides for certain types of job, personal connect is critical. I feel any business that needs proximity for delivery or persuasion or interaction, would need to develop agility to working in remote ways too as even post-Covid-19, one must remain prepared for the next crisis. We shall be in a fool’s paradise to believe that this is the last epidemiological disease that we are witnessing. So it would be prudent to develop flexibility model for remote and proximity working. However, new metrices have to be developed for monitoring performance evaluation.
