Q. There is much gloom in the world. And the fear due to the uncertainty. How do you keep motivating yourself and the teams that you work with?

A. Yes, none of us have perhaps experienced such collective anxiety and isolation in our lifetime. Keeping oneself motivated needs to be a volition-led (ie inside-out) exercise and can’t be done effectively from outside-in. Whatever a leader says to motivate its people, circumstances of individuals determine, to a great extent, the state of one’s mind. This is the time that one has to take charge of one’s mind through meditation and prayer. Nothing is in our control. Covid-19 has confirmed the same again. All of us are operating in a blind now.

You are aware of my conviction in spiritualism. It helps me navigate and maintain balance. Like the Japanese principle of Ikigai one has to follow passion, profession, vocation and mission : happiness comes from always being busy — physically, mentally, spiritually. I believe in the permanence of temporariness. So even this will pass.
