Q. Do you think there are just too many publications covering advertising and media (MxMIndia included!), given the size of the industry is so small?

 

A. One of the hallmarks of laissez faire economy is perfect competition. And in perfect competition, number of players would always be fluctuating, depending on entry barriers. Since there is insignificant real estate cost in starting an online site, as opposed to offline, one finds a plethora of players on the same area. Every player must be serving some unique taste and preference of the relevant stakeholders. But the litmus test is working on a thriving business model. And that’s the catch. Here again the principle of Darwinism works: survival of the fittest.
