Q. Do you sometimes find that artists and performers and even actors should stick to their craft and not get into areas that aren’t their concern?

A. In any profession, including the creative ones, as mentioned by you , can’t afford to live in a cocoon. As opinion leaders and influencers, they feel responsible to participate in larger societal discourse. It’s not about ” they ought to or not” approach. It’s about their volition to be part of a perceived cause, as per their conscience. If one opts for a myopic existence, one can stay aloof but affliction doesn’t remain confined to only selected parts of society. It spreads, as in virus. So when that happens, society and conscience rise. No  normative behaviour could be prescribed for the same. Everything is a matter of choice.
