Q. The Dentsu Aegis Network report on Digital released recently says that spends on digital media will exceed Rs 50,000 crore by 2025. As a legacy media veteran, does this worry you? Your advice to people on how they should reinvent themselves to stay relevant?

 

A. The DAN Report only reflects the evolving pattern of business and media investment. I believe worrying is no preparation. The application of this principle can be seen in every business trying to take rearguard action to avoid the trap of obsolescence. The only challenge is investment in the future and identify the right business model. The challenge of the legacy organisations is to execute transformation with continuity and that’s where many stumble. As an individual, I would say: first break all rules (read preconceived notions) to remain relevant. This is what I follow. I presume it should work for organisations too.
