Q. An ad agency which gets a good number of awards is considered hot and happening and full of talent and ideas. And what would you say is an agency that doesn’t win awards?

A. Awards are kosher for bragging or for the ego. It also enhances the attractiveness of an agency amongst existing and potential business associates. But for any agency worth its salt, an award isn’t the be-all and end-all of life. So to label an award-winning agency as a successful one and a non-winning one a loser is highly superficial and a shallow way of evaluating the capability of an agency.

Tomorrow’s question: As President of BCCL and having led the organisation and various teams for several years, how do you compare the current crop of media leaders versus those who existed in the good old days?
