Sahara India Media (SIM) is recasting its programming and packaging with an eye on a digital future. Sahara has brought in Arup Ghosh as CEO and Editor-in-Chief of its news media division.

Other than the news channels in Hindi and regionals, the Samay News Network has seven editions of the Hindi daily Rashtriya Sahara and nine editions of Urdu daily Roznama. Ghosh is likely to initiate a significant digital foray for the company.

Said Ghosh: “It’s a matter of great privilege to be back at SIM especially at a time when the media landscape is undergoing transformation with the explosion of digital media. We are aiming to take Samay News Network & Rashtriya Sahara (Hindi & Urdu) to the next level by introducing differentiated content which are a cut above the competition with a fine forward-looking digital strategy and maximizing content monetization through synergized operations between its TV, print anddigital verticals.”

According to industry sources, the various Sahara India Media offerings will see a relaunch soon, and backed up by a marketing offensive. There is no clear timeline set for the relaunch, but we are told it will happen ahead of Diwali 2017.
