Popular trade portal Best Media Info Editor-in-Chief Kalyan Kar has resigned. He is reported to have relinquished charge last Saturday.

Kar, or Kalyanda as he is known in the industry, has spent over four decades in the news media. He started out as a trainee with The Economic Times and has held senior positions with the group including being Resident Editor with The Times of India. He and a colleague set up Business Times as a branded section in the main book. Earlier, Karalso worked with the now-defunct Sunday magazine of the ABP group. Later, he joined Exchange4media.com as Editor and also co-founded Network2Media.com and was its Editor-in-Chief.

When trade sources informed MxMIndia of his exit, we called Kalyanda to confirm the development. Which he did. “I’m delighted to have helped BestMediaInfo.com rise to what it is today from what it was five-and-a-half years back,” he told us.

What next, we asked him. Loads, he said, indicating that there are a host of personal things he wishes to complete, before considering options. Kar continues to be a director on the Board of BestMediaInfo, a source told us.
