Spare a thought for the Malin mayhem before that drink tonight or the spend at the supermarket. Donate Generously via MxM

01 Aug,2014

What’s happened at Malin in Pune district was horrible. That it possibly happened thanks to many years of deforestation and environmental degradation makes one wonder when this plunder of our nature will stop.

However, this isn’t the time for shouting out loud against the perpetrators of the crime. Let’s leave that to the news channels or social media.

Here’s a clarion call to all in the media to donate generously. Not in kind please. We will route all the donations to the Sakal Relief Fund, who we trust to ensure that the money is channelized effectively. You could of course choose to pick any other relief activity/fund.

But do it today. The salary deposit alerts have possibly reached your mobile phones. Rather than spend that in the nightspot tonight or some weekend shopping at the malls or supermarkets, divert some monies here.

Simply mail us at editor@mxmindia.com. Or better still courier your cheques/drafts to: MxMIndia Pvt Ltd, 39 Om Heera Panna Complex, First Floor, Off New Link Road Extension, Oshiwara, Andheri West, Mumbai 400053. We will forward your cheques to the Sakal group. You could also send your cheques to Sakal directly (Sakal Relief Fund, C/O Sakal Office, 591, Budhwar Peth, Pune 411002). Cheques should be drawn in favour of ‘Sakal Relief Fund’.

All payments over Rs 1000 will be acknowledged on MxMIndia in a news item around the last week of August.

MxMIndia pledges a donation of Rs 10,000 for the rehabilitation and relief activities.

Also 10 percent of all revenues that we receive next week (from Aug 3 to 9) in the form of Release Orders will be donated to the Malin Relief Fund.

And, yes, spare a thought for the lives lost and the survivors.

PS: Needless to say donations to the relief fund will be eligible for concessions under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act
